Nononono. The shocked dismay was a reaction to the song, not the year. There were good songs that year, you just didn't get one.
We are all here very young. In fact, I've actually been attempting to ban people from using 80s songs. It is simply not possible that people who are able to reach computer keyboards were born in the 80s. They are just big liars.
(btw, ssjbento, I've reassigned you "Mr. Sandman" 1954, I believe. A much more rational year).

This song was playing at the roller rink where I had my first "date" with a boy. The boy in question had aspirations to be a magician when he grew up and loved this song... We were twelve.
