I have to say I agree with a lot of this.Its too bad too-Saiyuki was a great fandom to be in before the last year.Now Im not so sure I want to be in the fandom at all.And if this gets me kicked from RFB than so be it. Im sick of jumping thru the hoops of an egotistical elitist who hides behind a sock-puppet account just to see scans.

With RFB things have just spiraled downward. Random bannings and the RFB mods acting like asshats when people call them out on what theyve been doing is just the tip of the problem. Ive had issues with RFB since the whole whoring for paid time thing. Ive just kept my mouth shut till now.

Wow, I didn't know that was going on, that is not a good thing to do. You really aleniate people and it kinda sucks when you are so well known in the fandom. I guess in a way, I keep myself distant from the fandom to a certain extent. I read really very few fics and look at very specific art and I have noticed some of the change but I have definitely missed the negative aspects of RFB. It also reflects the fact that I have taken a lot of my fandoms to a more private level. I always get in trouble for opening my mouth ^__^;;;

Actually, I went to /cm/ at the chan yesterday and for some reason, someone decided to really dislike me for my opinion regarding pairings. It was kinda funny because the person admitted later that she wanted to be a brat and decided she wanted to recite me so canon. I was amused but it made me realize that not all fans are made equal.

I'd hate to see this fandom go down the drain, I have already a hard time with the Naruto fandom as it is XD!

I saw that thread in /cm/ yesterday-she really was trying to be a brat. I was surprised since normally Saiyuki threads in the chans dont get wanky.

I read the link, and I agree.

I never bothered to join RFB in the first place, just because of the weirdness of the community concept. After that, I was glad I never got into it because of all the stories people would tell: getting banned because you didn't follow the mods' every whim, or you didn't join in character bashing. If I'm denied access to what's going on in Japan *right now,* it really doesn't affect my life.

For all the bad people in any fandom, there are a lot of good people. I'd hate to see you leave everything behind because of something stupid someone did. You make wonderful icons (like this one) and I love all of your contributions.

It's something to think about, though.

RFB was great in the very beginning but it quickly went downhill due to the maintainers huge ego.And not only have they banned people for not participating in their stupid shit-theyve banned people for calling them out on things on the 'offendies' own personal journals. Theyve banned people for having people on their FL that RFB didnt like too.

Still making icons...just slowed down a bit cause life's been getting in the way. I wont totally ever leave it behind I think.

The only other fandom I've participated in prior to Saiyuki was Gundam Wing circa 2000, and there's almost no wank here compared to that. I don't know why people feel the need to lord information or scans over other people.

One of the worst RFB stories I've heard was that they seem to constantly bash on Gojyo over there. The person I heard the story from was banned because she refused to bash him. ;_; Poor kappa...

What really gets me is that even if they're trying to play it that way...there's no reason canonically for it. Banri doesnt hate Gojyo at all.

If anything, he feels sorry for him. Despite his hatred of the humans for oppressing youkai, he says that hanyou have it even worse.

Haven't they latched onto/corrupted Ensui lately, too?

If it weren't for places like this and the utter infestation of Mary Sues over on FFN, the fandom would be near perfect, I think.

*Nods* Its not just Ensui theyve fucked up.Theyve also been fucking up Zakuro to the point that its not even the same character anymore.¬_¬

Agreed! Not much can be done about Mary Sues unfortunately tho.

I just got into this fandom in August, and it all seems good to me. Then again, I'm at the very edge of things and have never bothered joining RFB, and I'm barely on any other Saiyuki comms.

I hope that not a lot of people start giving it up, though. That'd make me sad.

i can't believe this, all thats happened to this fandom. i've been a loyal since the 1st vol. in the u.s. but this is ridiculous whats happening. *hugs ikkou* it makes me a little angry...i should have stayed home yesterday to actually keep up with this *sigh*

Wow, thanks for being brave and giving this coverage - I never joined RFB, but mostly because I can't view the pix unless I do certain stuffs that would interfere with RL a little too much. Glad I didn't if the character-bashing thing over there is as bad as you say :(
